Houston
9-7 for the last 3 years and 2 playoff appearances. Bill O’Brien‘s tenure at Houston has been successful. They even won a playoff game last year. Even with all the questions at quarterback they’ve been able to maintain an above .500 record, make the playoffs and win their division. Could you imagine if they they had a franchise quarterback? In comes 1st round pick Deshaun Watson. They’re saying Tom Savage will be the starter which is smart. Give Watson a year to develop. I’d even let him get some snaps in some tricky formations to make their offense for dynamic. Obviously if Savage doesn’t play well Watson will be called on to step up. Luckily, O’Brien will be calling the plays this year. This team runs the ball more than anyone in the league and I don’t expect that to change with Lamar Miller and drafting D’Onta foreman. They’ll need to get Hopkins the ball more. 78/954/4 aren’t great numbers for a top wide out. Incorporating the tight ends more has worked out. Fredorowicz and Miller combined for 1,001 yards and 6 touchdowns.
Those are great numbers, but they still need to get Hopkins the ball and develop wide receiver Will Fuller. The line is good enough to get this team to the top of the AFC. With these weapons there’s no reason this can’t be a top 10 offense. The issue as always will be quarterback.
Indianapolis
Right on Houston’s heels is this Indianapolis team. After 11 wins in 2012,2013 and 2014, the colts have finished 8-8 the last 2 years and missed the playoffs. Very disappointing for a team with Andrew Luck at quarterback. Indianapolis made a lot of moves in the offseason, but not a lot on offense. This line is still an issue. Luck will be recovering from offseason surgery, but he should be fine. The line will need to keep him that way. They have the weapons. Hilton and Moncrief at receiver gives them a solid 1-2. Hilton surpassed 1,400 yards last season and Moncrief had 7 touchdowns after missing 7 games. On top of that they have Jack Doyle at tight end who had 6 touchdowns last year. Dwayne Allen is gone so Doyle will be the man. In the backfield Frank Gore is still trucking
along after a 1,000 yard season. He doesn’t have much left, but they added Marlon Mack in the draft to add depth and versatility at the position. The offense is good enough to be a playoff team. Can the line hold up? And is good enough really good enough?
Jacksonville
position. The Jaguars have given Bortles the weapons. The line is going to be a little suspect. They brought in Albert and Watford to help. They also drafted Cam Robinson out of Alabama. They’re trying to fix it, but I’m not convinced. This offense will get some stats playing from behind, but this line and the youth will prove to slow them down.
Tennessee
Taywan Taylor from western Kentucky. Both these receivers should look to contribute with Davis likely to get the number 2 spot. They’re not the best options, but they’re young there’s time to grow with the run game being the main attraction. The line is solid. There’s a reason this team ranked 3rd in rushing and I expect them to be first this year. This offense has the capabilities to score, but game management is more their style. If these receivers step up and Mariota stays healthy this will be a top ten offense.
