1. Army (12-1) Army is not messing around. They are quietly one of the best teams in the country. In 2018 they went 11-2 and one of the losses was in overtime to Oklahoma. While their schedule is never great it's still impressive to get double digit wins. This year theres only 1 team standing between them and an undefeated season and that is week 2 at Michigan. Outside of that I see this team rolling. They finished 2nd in rushing and 35th in scoring on offense and return 7 starters. That … [Read more...] about Independents Preview

Sun Belt West Preview
1. Arkansas State (7-5, 6-2) This was a hard decision having this team win the conference with a quarterback who has thrown less than 60 passes. Here's the thing, almost every team in this conference will be breaking in a new starter quarterback. Arkansas State has the most experienced coach in the league in Blake Anderson. Only one other coach has been coaching their team more than a year. Coaching is a big in College Football but it's especially important in these smaller conferences. … [Read more...] about Sun Belt West Preview

1. Troy (10-2, 6-2) After a 10 win season Troy loses head coach Neal Brown. He leaves behind a good team though and Troy is typically better than most of the Sun Belt teams. This is a team that beat Nebraska last year. This year they return 7 starters on offense and with the transfer of Sawyer Smith the offense is in the hands of Kaleb Barker. Barker had a 13/2 TD/INT ratio but he got injured so durability is an issue. Another issue will be losing a lot of their top receivers. Younger guys are … [Read more...] about Sun Belt East Preview

1. Georgia (12-0, 8-0) This team was has been on the cusp of a National Championship for the last 2 years. Last year they let Bama come back against them in the SEC Championship and the they got outvoted for the last playoff spot. This year they'll have another chance at Alabama in the SEC Championship game. They return their quarterback in Jake Fromm and their top rushers in D'Andre Swift. Fromm threw for 30 touchdowns last year and Swift ran for 10. With these 2 Georgia ranked 14th in … [Read more...] about SEC East Preview

1. Alabama (12-0, 8-0) Another year and another prediction for Bama winning the SEC West. At this point it's one of the safest bets in College Football. Even with players leaving early for the NFL the Tide just keep producing Championship quality teams. Last year they went undefeated into the National Championship game where they were hammered by Clemson 44-16. This year they won't have to worry about the Tua/Hurts situation since Hurts has transferred to Oklahoma. They also get 5 other … [Read more...] about SEC West Preview
Pac-12 North Preview
1. California (9-3, 6-3) This may be my boldest prediction of the 2019 season. Having a team win a conference after finishing 116th in scoring is very bold. Having a team win a conference with only 4 starters coming back on offense is very bold. An offense that loses its entire starting receiving core and their top running back in Patrick Laird. They do get Chase Garbers back who threw for over 1,500 and 14 touchdowns. He only started 10 games though. And at times he was definitely ineffective … [Read more...] about Pac-12 North Preview

1. Boise State (10-2, 7-1) The Mountain side of the Mountain West is seemingly Boise States to lose. Their away schedule is a joke. UNLV, BYU, San Jose st, Utah State, and Colorado State. An average team can go 3-2 or 4-1 against those opponents. With how well Boise plays at home that should set top for a big year. Losing quarterback Brett Rypien won't help that cause. He was a four year starter and a staple for this program. This was 18th ranked passing offense and the 20th ranked scoring … [Read more...] about Mountain West Mountain Preview

1. Hawaii (7-6, 5-3) You read that right...I have Hawaii winning the West. A team that hasn't made national headlines since Colt Brennan. Now, this team isn't quite that Hawaii team but they are talented and they do have a quarterback with a similar name...Cole McDonald. McDonald did work last year.. He threw for 3,875 yards and 36 touchdowns on his way to the 9th best passing offense in the country. This year he gets his entire line and backfield back. They lose top wideout John Ursua but the … [Read more...] about Mountain West West Preview

1. Ohio (7-5, 5-3) Yes, Frank Solich is still coaching the Bobcats after 14 years. Yes, this team is still doing well. They finished with 9 wins last year and a 27-0 win against San Diego st in the Frisco Bowl. Let's start with the defense that pitched that shut out. 7 starters return from a top 50 defense. Those starters return at all levels. Hudson, Brooks, and Hagan man the secondary which should be the strength of the defensive side. Another benefit for this defense is that it's loaded with … [Read more...] about MAC East Preview

1. Toledo (9-3, 7-1) Last year Toledo only won 7 games. I say "only" because they won at least 9 games the previous 4 seasons and were coming off an 11 win season. Jason Candle is 28-13 as a head coach and I expect another big year. Let's get started with this high powered offense. There are 8 returning starters from a team that finished 9th in scoring in the nation. While that sounds all well and good it's not all rainbows and sunshine. First off, they lose most of their receiving core. … [Read more...] about MAC West Preview
