It’s Saturday night, I haven’t seen the new Strangers things, we have a big parlay tomorrow, and I’m nursing a hangover from the day before. All leads up to some delivery food. Usually I go Chinese when I’m hungover but today I decided to do pizza and a place called P. ZA.
First off I ordered 2 pizzas and they were delivered in one big box. It’s not a big deal but it is different. The pizzas were also square as you can see in the picture. I decided to do a classic pepperoni and a meatball ricotta. They only had a couple salads and desserts outside of that so I doubled up on pizza. Both were about the same.
The dough is pretty chewy. It’s kind of like it’s trying to be a deep dish but stopped before it gets the crisp edges or the butter crust. It’s not bad but it’s nothing to write home about. The sauce is about the same feeling. It’s just a chunky tomato sauce with not much flavor. I actually got a side of it and it kind of looked like stewed tomatoes in a can. You can see it in the picture. It looks like there’s no seasoning in it all. Which is odd because the pizza tasted pretty garlicky. So I assumed they’re adding fresh garlic to the pizza rather than the sauce.
The pepperoni was alright. They use big pepperonis which isn’t my favorite. The meatball on the pizza was said to be famous and I thought it had very little flavor. It just looked like ground beef and looked a little old in some spots. As ground beef it was normal but considering it was meatball I was disappointed. The ricotta was a nice touch but it couldn’t save the pizza. The other cheese was blah too. It was the kind of cheese that doesn’t melt right. It was choppy if that a way to describe it.
Overall, I probably wouldn’t order from here again. It wasn’t the worst pizza I’ve ever had but not worth a second trip. I don’t think it’s far from being a good pizza though. Everything just needs a little more flavor. Sounds simple but if it was simple the pizza would of been better. This is a new spot so maybe they’ll get it right down the road. For now I’ll try elsewhere.
